Events

We all have our reasons for fishing. Some days you want a challenge, or to see how you stack up against other anglers. Other days you just want a tasty snack. Whichever it is, this page is for you.

All I need is your catches. I made an addon called R.E.E.L. that writes down every fish you catch and when you caught it, so no story grows in the telling. Install it and fish like you always do.

There are three kinds of events: a new challenge every day, another every week, and about twice a month, one of my own. Nobody signs up for anything. Go fish, then bring me your journal.

Can't reach the calendar

The records live on the site's API, which isn't reachable right now. Try again in a little while.

Server-time windows

Night fish bite on the server's night wherever you are, so those events run on server time and say so. Seasonal fish run on the calendar.

Private events

Make one, share its event code with your guild, run your own cup. It never shows here unless you ask Hal to list it.

Blizzard's one

The Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza runs Sundays, 2 to 4 PM server time: 40 Speckled Tastyfish to Riggle Bassbait in Booty Bay. The addon counts them on the bar while it's on. Stranglethorn Vale.

Kinds of events

I've run enough of these to know people like to be tested in different ways. Here's every kind I run. Every event, month by month.

Alliance against Horde. Every fish you land counts for your side. More fish wins. The Feralas cook-off

Best thirty. Fish as long as you like, and I keep your best half hour. Good for people who can't sit still for a weekend. The Blump family reunion

Community. One big number for everyone. Every fish anyone lands counts toward it, and you keep yours. The squid run

Most. Everything you catch inside the dates counts. Fish a little every night or all of Sunday; it's the pile at the end that matters. Da Big Catch

Quest. A list to finish, no clock. Everyone who finishes gets the badge, and I write the names down in the order they came in. Longest day

Race. First to the number wins. Your clock starts on your first fish and stops on your last, so a long walk between spots costs you. Shedding season

Set. A list of fish, any order. Clock starts on the first one and stops on the last. Fastest wins. Riverglades race

Variety. Different fish from different zones. It's a race, but you have to travel for it. Four corners

Zone against zone. Every fish you land counts for the zone you landed it in, and you can fish for more than one. The zone with the best angler wins. The Trainers' Cup
